KCL marked its 10th anniversary of the merge in 2020 and celebrated its 50th founding anniversary in 2021. Since its inception in 1971 as Korea Export Goods Testing Laboratory, KCL has evolved into what we are now through the merge in 2010 between Korea Institute of Construction Materials(KICM) and Korea Environment & Merchandise Testing Institute(KEMTI).

KCL, which has shared the journey of Republic of Korea’s remarkable economy growth during the past half-century, is now achieving a bigger dream for tomorrow in the new growth engine industries.

While focusing on construction, living and environment fields in the early days of merge between KICM and KEMTI, KCL gradually advanced into new growth engine industries, and now offering testing and certification services in many of the fields of construction, living, environment, components & materials, fire safety, secondary battery, ESS, energy, mobility, bio, etc.

KCL also built world-class specialized test sites that could carry out testing in the new growth engine industries such as real-scale fire testing center, building energy testing center, climatic environment real-scale testing center, air filter test site, mobility center, future mobility research center, battery center and medical technology center, etc. KCL is striving to provide world-renowned testing and certification services by capitalizing on state-of-the-art infrastructure that caters to the needs of enterprises.

Working tirelessly for the last decade, KCL is on the way towards creating value and an inspiring culture that are even more valuable than what we have achieved. By staying true to our purpose of creating a society in which people can live in safety, KCL will navigate the future of Korea’s testing, inspection and certification industry by strengthening our capability and infrastructure.
